In the mid-80s, DC Comics encountered a problem regarding Batman twice: first, the public was still not very receptive and sales were not as good as expected, on the other hand, after more than forty years of life and having gone through many different authors, bleach 466 there were many inconsistencies in the Batman universe. For all that the company decided to put the superhero in the hands of Frank Miller. Thus was born the comic Batman: Year One, which was intended to rewrite the past of the hero. It first appeared in 1987 in the numbers 404-407.

Batman: Year One has two parallel stories: the conversion of Bruce Wayne in Batman to return to Gotham City after train and study the world, and the arrival of Jim Gordon Police Department Gotham City. We presented the mobster Carmine "The Roman" Falcone and Selina Kyle shows us as a prostitute before becoming Catwoman. At the end of the comic speaks of the existence of the Joker, but it does not appear.
